SCO

SCOPH

In 1952, medical students who were part of IFMSA established SCOSH (Standing Committee on Students’ Health). The main reason for the establishment of SCOSH was the strong desire to actively participate in prevention efforts and policymaking regarding health issues. Then, in 1963, it was renamed SCOH (Standing Committee on Health) because it was considered not only to focus on students' health. The reason for this change was that the previous division of IFMSA Standing Committees was still limited, so it was deemed necessary to expand its reach. Finally, in 1983, SCOH was once again renamed SCOPH (Standing Committee on Public Health), which remains its name today. In 1999, SCOPH was introduced to Indonesia for the first time, specifically in Semarang, Central Java. Later, when CIMSA was founded on May 6, 2001, SCOPH became a part of CIMSA as an affiliate of IFMSA.

21 March 2025

The CITRUS program (Children Immunization to Increase the Resistance of Pneumonia by SCOPH) is a community-driven initiative by SCOPH CIMSA-BEM KM FK Unand to combat pneumonia in children under five in West Sumatra. Launched in 2023 and continuing into 2024, the program addresses declining vaccination rates and pneumonia prevalence through education, outreach, and immunization campaigns in Kelurahan Seberang Padang. CITRUS included four intervention phases, starting with door-to-door vaccine awareness campaigns, interactive community activities, educational sessions with pediatric experts, and collaboration with health centers for vaccinations. The program successfully engaged residents, countered misinformation, and strengthened local health efforts by appointing community health cadres. Recognized for its impact, CITRUS was awarded Best Project for Period 1 in CIMSA, underscoring its success in improving child health and promoting immunization awareness.
